Mrs. Van Ausdle's 6th Grade

Do You Have a Mean Teacher?

A MEAN teacher insists that each student do the best s/he is capable of doing.     (Wouldn’t this be expected on the job?)
A MEAN teacher insists assignments are on time and takes points off for late     assignments.
(What would happen in the real world with late work?)
A MEAN teacher does not accept incomplete assignments.
(Hmmm… I wonder     what a boss would think of this?)
A MEAN teacher requires each student to think carefully and to make her/his own     decisions.
(Will my future boss expect me to think on my own?!)
A MEAN teacher holds each student responsible for her/his own behavior.
(Will I need to be accountable for my own actions in my future?!)
A MEAN teacher makes students keep the classroom, themselves, and their     belongings neat and clean.
(You mean my future boss will expect me to be organized & clean?!)
A MEAN teacher does not allow free time in class until all class-work is done.
(Won’t I have playtime on the job?)
A MEAN teacher gives homework regularly, sometimes even on weekends.
(What job makes me take work home?!  Hmmm…)
A MEAN teacher calls on students who don't raise their hands to answer questions.
(Will I have to think fast in my future? Will I have to pay attention to my boss?)
A MEAN teacher requires all students to treat each other with respect.
(You mean I’ll need to be respectful to people I work with?)
A MEAN teacher makes life miserable for students by insisting that they always     tell the truth.
(Doesn’t the truth always get me in trouble? …or is it the other way around?)
A MEAN teacher produces students who are respectful, responsible, and     successful.
THE WORLD NEEDS MORE MEAN* TEACHERS!
*(MEAN = Making Excellence ANecessity)
